Kandie was born in Oregon, where she spent most of her formative years. She grew up playing sports and excelled in softball, basketball, and volleyball.
Kandie was always curious about the world around her and had a genuine interest in learning about different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life. Throughout high school and college, she sought out opportunities to be part of different groups, embracing the chance to meet new people, experience different cultures, and challenge her own way of thinking. Her openness and curiosity helped shape the way she connected with people throughout her life.
Kandie loved the beach, fishing, camping, and, most of all, spending time with the people she loved. She had a special place in her heart for the children in her life and cherished every opportunity to be part of their lives.

Kandie began her college career at Clackamas Community College, and she never left. She quickly found her calling in helping students find their own path at Clackamas Community College, just as she had done herself.
When Kandie spoke about the students she was helping, she would light up. It was more than a career; it was her passion. She believed in the power of education and the opportunities it could create, and she carried that belief far beyond the walls of Clackamas Community College. She was always encouraging the people around her to take a class or learn something new.
Kandie eventually decided to further her own education, earning her bachelor’s degree from Marylhurst University. She understood firsthand that learning is a lifelong journey, and she never stopped encouraging others to take that journey for themselves.
Today, a bench at Clackamas Community College stands in Kandie’s memory. It is a lasting testament to the impact she had on the college, the students she served, and the many lives she touched along the way.

Kandie had a passion for life, the outdoors, sports, and above all, people. She cared deeply about treating others with kindness, compassion, and fairness. She believed in lifting others up and encouraging people to find and use their voice. Kandie was a gentle force, a light in the darkness and a shoulder to lean on. She was a devoted wife, a loving and helpful daughter, and a rock for her younger sisters. She was a cherished friend to many and a leader within the many circles of people whose lives she touched.
